We’re very proud to announce that on Tuesday 4th March 2025, Nick Seymour was awarded The David Hilton Memorial Award at the East Kent Fruit Society annual presentation evening.
David Hilton was a well respected East Kent fruit grower, and tireless supporter of the UK fruit industry and of the East Kent Fruit Society. He gave a large amount of time and energy back to the industry and was one of Kent fruit growing’s unsung heroes.
In his memory, The East Kent Fruit Society decided to create an award for services to the fruit industry in Kent and beyond.
Since he started NP Seymour over 50 years ago, Nick has gone above and beyond to use his engineering skills to solve problems and come up with clever solutions which have contributed to the fruit industry in many ways.
At the awards dinner, grower John Hinchliff gave a wonderful speech highlighting some of Nick’s contributions to the fruit sector, including the time he and Rob Saunders saved the blackcurrant harvest after growers had been let down by a plastic bin supplier, to his involvement in countless R&D projects, and his reputation for designing, fabricating and supplying things that will last.
